For your safety and comfort, and out of mutual consideration, we request your observance of the following policies:

  1. Check-in any time after 3 PM, Check-out by 10 AM unless other arrangements are agreed-upon in advance.
  2. Well-behaved children aged seven (7) or older are welcome -- please supervise them for their safety.
  3. Please remove shoes before entering.
  4. Smoking is permitted outdoors only.
  5. Sorry, we cannot accommodate pets.
  6. Kindly keep sound down between 8 PM and 8 AM.   Please refrain from running the motorized spa jets between 8 PM and 6 AM. Amplified sound that is audible beyond the property boundaries of the B&B home is prohibited by Maui County.
  7. Alcohol should not be consumed before or during use of sauna or spa. Additional safety guidelines are posted in sauna and spa area. Drug use is prohibited.
  8. Please do not take glass outdoors -- plastic drinking containers are available.
  9. When you are going to be away, please lock all doors and sliders. We believe our home is safe and secure, but we cannot be responsible for your valuable property.
  10. When you are away, please turn off air conditioning to conserve energy consumption.
  11. Please ask for assistance with the Tradewinds Suite sauna, or if you wish to shift the frame of the futon in Tradewinds Suite to make it into a bed.
  12. Our spa maintenance service cleans and chemically balances the outdoor spa once or twice a week to assure that it remains in top condition. We will notify you of the schedule.
  13. Because this is a tropical setting, we use a pest control service. Even so, insects occasionally find their way indoors. Harmless geckos (considered good luck according to local folklore) may also be seen. Keeping screen doors closed will minimize this.
  14. Burning of candles is not permitted in the Suite.
  15. Some face creams, body lotions and skin medications contain a bleaching agent. If you plan to wear one of these products to bed, we will happily substitute white bed linen upon request. Otherwise, accidental bleaching of our colored bed linen will result in a charge for replacement.
  16. Kindly park in your designated on-site parking space.


  1. Maui Tradewinds provides lodging for transient occupants, and no landlord/tenant relationship exists between the proprietors and guests.

  2. Reservations are on a first come first serve basis. Your credit card details are used to guarantee your reservation. Your card also serves as a security deposit in the event of loss or accidental damage to property, and we may make an imprint of your credit or debit card when you arrive.

  3. Guests must provide the names of all travelers, along with contact information for the guest who made the reservation, including a complete address, phone number and Email address.

  4. We accept payment by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Certified Bank Check or Electronic Funds Transfer.

  5. 50% of the rent, tax and cleaning fee will be charged at the time of booking, and the 50% balance will be charged ninety days ahead of your arrival. If your arrival is already within ninety days, at the time when you make your reservation, then 100% of the total booking cost will be charged. Reservations are subject to cancellation if payment is not available when due.

  6. Refund of payment in case of re-booking: Unlike commercial hotels and resorts which feature large room inventories, small home-based visitor accommodations can't easily absorb the cost of cancellations. In the event you must cancel your reservation, we must receive written notice of cancellation from you before we can offer any of the nights you had reserved to another party. We will use our best efforts to rent the accommodation to other guests for the period you had reserved. Provided you have honored the cancellation terms of your agreement with us, you may be eligible for a partial or a full refund of your payment. If we are successful in re-booking the vacancy, and recovering the full amount anticipated from your reservation, we will refund your entire payment. However, if we are unable to recover the full amount anticipated from your reservation, and we experience a loss from your cancellation, then your refund will depend upon the amount of that loss. If we collect an amount from other guests, which is in excess of the loss resulting from your cancellation, we will refund that excess amount to you, and we will provide you with an accounting.

  7. Refund for early departure: If you must leave sooner than expected we will use our best efforts to rent the accommodation for the remainder of the period you had reserved. Provided you have honored the terms of your agreement with us,  we will refund, to you, any amounts we succeed in collecting from other guests who book the vacancy in your accommodation, up to the amount you have pre-paid for the unused nights, and we will provide you with an accounting. 

  8. You agree to be financially responsible for any loss or damage to the premises or its contents which may be caused by you, beyond normal wear and tear. If you leave the premises in a condition which requires more than five man-hours of cleaning, there will be a charge over and above the standard cleaning fee.

  9. In the event of a dispute over the rights or obligations of either party to this Understanding, the prevailing party shall be entitled to recover its reasonable attorney fees, and costs and expenses incurred.
